NATED PROGRAMMES

A NATED Programme (National Accredited Technical Education Diploma) is part of a national vocational education and training system.

It is designed to provide theoretical and practical post-secondary education that leads to a formal qualification, known as a National Diploma.

These programmes are regulated by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

NATED Programmes are structured in a phased approach: students must complete a theoretical component followed by practical work experience in the industry related to their field of study.

This integration of theory and practice aims to enhance the employability and workplace readiness of graduates.

Each NATED course has three levels of certification:

N4 – N6 Certificates: Typically one year per level, focusing on in-depth theoretical studies.

National N Diploma: Awarded after completing N6 and at least 18 months of relevant practical experience.

The NATED system is pivotal in bridging the gap between education and the labour market.
